1850's Sheffeld England Bowie Knife

Price

$1,575.00

A finely crafted knife stands as a crucial element in the arsenals of those who defend against the night – be they human or, indeed, the undead themselves. Quincey Morris, a name whispered with respect among those who understand the shadows, insisted on blades that were not only effective tools but also showcased a certain artistry and keen design. This impressive knife is no exception.

Behold this Bowie knife, forged in Sheffield, England, during the mid-19th century – the 1850s – before making its journey across the Atlantic to the United States. One can easily imagine it once belonged to a person of substance, perhaps a military man, a figure of authority. Fashioned in the years leading up to the American Civil War, it's quite possible this very piece bore witness to that pivotal era. Though its specific history during that time is now lost to us, fate, it would seem, had a more intriguing purpose in mind: its eventual inclusion in a Quincey P. Morris vampire-slaying kit.

Note the clear markings upon the steel: the original maker's name and the stamp of its US import, flanked by the stoic presence of two Maltese crosses. The blade itself measures a substantial 7.5 inches, contributing to an overall length of 12.75 inches. A beautifully carved handle leads to an equally impressive carved pommel, and the steel guard features subtle yet distinct ornamental touches. Remarkably, after more than 170 years, the blade remains in excellent condition, bearing a rich patina that speaks of age and enduring quality.

This notable Sheffield Bowie knife, a silent echo of history and a potential bane to creatures of the night, is now offered separately from a complete kit. Its sale will contribute directly to the important work of restoring and constructing future Quincey P. Morris vampire-killing kits, ensuring that the means to defend against darkness remain within reach.
